Decisions Decisions...Walk or Drive in crappy weather??

I'm currently at school in Michigan where I walk a mile everyday to school and my evo is back at home (in chicago) stored. I elected to leave the Evo in chicago for several reasons, its lowered, fairly new (23k miles), and has only seen like 3 months of winter its whole life, i dont have a garaged spot here in michigan either...and im not a fan of the car being exposed to salt and the cf being exposed to the sun and I'd have to pay to get the springs removed, also pay for gas and any other maintanance stuff Im avoiding by having it stored.
On the other hand, I walk to school and today it was like 11 degrees but with windchill felt like -1. People do a ****y job of shoveling and i usually find myself fighting to walk to school. It's not too fun But I do have a friend who gives me ride sometimes but I don't want to abuse his kindness and he's the type of person who really wouldn't take money.
Pics of evo

So do I stick it out and walk or bring the evo up?

At the end of the day it's only a car. Get some snow tires and take it to school.

If it were walk or drive the evo, I would drive the evo. My evo was my winter car. My 1g dsm sits in the garage all winter and I drive the evo. I just rinsed it off real well once or twice a week at the car wash during the winter when there was salt and **** on the roads.

Dont freeze your *** off man! lol You pay for the car to drive it, so.....

I'd be more concerned about numerous short, one mile drives, and the negative impact that can have on a car, more than I'd be worried about the salt.

well the car's like my babby haha and i dont know if the cost (gas, parking when at school, increased insurance, removing springs and alignment) of bringing the evo here here is worth it, same percentage of me falling while walking is probably the same odds of some idiot hitting me while driving...the roads arent any better than the sidewalks in Grand Rapids, MI. It sucks, not to mention im not sure how much i trust the neighborhood am at with leaving my car out. if i had a garage, id definetely have the evo here but now i dunno..if i had more $ id just buy a beater..well see

evo196, there swift sport

Why remove the springs? You don't think it can make it lowered in the winter?

Just take off the front lip and leave it dropped. That's what I'm doing. No problems so far.

Hehe. peace of mind is where you can see it. There's probably someone cruising it back home...

Get an alarm.

To be honest I'd be really nervous about where I took my evo and where I parked it over night. Some people just love to screw with them and lets face it, some areas have more of those people than others, school probably being one of them.

Leave it at home so you don't get lazy. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Hang in there champ, March is around the corner.
