My problem is that as soon as I dont have a car payment I start thinking....hmmmm...Now I can afford to buy another car...
I guess for me cars ARE what I want to be spending my money on.

Paid mine off 6 months ago, which was 3 years early on a 5 year loan and I loved that day. It's a totally different feeling knowing you officialy own the car, it's hard to describe until you do it.

Paid mine off back in '08 and felt great!

Congratulations dude. Now I know there's a lot of fancy new 2010 Evo's out there, but don't get any ideas!

She's a 05 MR with 31xxx miles now

since I'm not doing payments anymore I decided to do some upgrades, I'm currently doing a meth kit, removing my cc 272 and replacing with kelford 272, a twin disk and some other smallstuff.
Dammit it's our 5 year aniversary and I gotta make her look good :P
results tomorrow

yes she was bought new off the showroom floor.

I put a $2500 downpayment and traded my 03 350 Z in, they gave me 22k for the Z and I paid 21.5k for her 3 months early(I called her my turtle, also no respect with that car, in a EVO people get intimidated)

They gave me a 3 percent rate back then.

Also not knowing anything about the EVO I paid over sticker too.

Ha! I have basically the exact same story. Bought my 03 350ZzZzZzZz which could put you to sleep it was so slow, traded it in and got 22k for it, put down 3K and they even let me literally drive my evo off the show room floor and right out the main front doors. I loved it, I remember that day like it was yesterday she only had 13 miles on her. Ahhhhh the memories

"this was my payoff, done from paying $720.00 every month for the past 60 months, car payments are a BIG PITA.
I officially own my EVO 100% FTW
I got that same excited feeling as when I bought her"

Wow that $$ 43,200.....

+1 whipped out a calculator and tried to estimate how much $$$ I'll save each year...let's see how much I'll save in 3 years

looks at calculated amount....thinks to self I could buy or put down a nice deposit for a gtr "godzilla", R8, etc

promised myself I would get never hooked on the money pit of saving up to acquire cars after I paid the evo off but damn it's so tempting and hard not to dream of saving and owning another car.

It really sucked having monthly payments I wasn't struggling but it did put a damper on other things like vacations and other expenses.

Good riddance to car payments...not sure how long I can hold out
