Question How accurate is HKS Type 1 1/4 mile time?

Does anyone out there have any idea how accurate the 1/4 mile timing function is on the HKS Type 1 turbo timer. I just used it to time my car (first time I have ever launched it) and it gave me a time of 12.72 and this is after I let off of the gas before the end of the run because I was running out of road in front of my office complex. It did feel pretty damn fast as like I said I had never really taken off from a dead stop before, but 12.72 is pretty damn fast. It is lightly modified, AEM intake, MBC set at 20psi, RnR O2 eliminator downpipe with 3" cat and a custom fabricated 3" cat back with no muffler, Stainless clutch line and no clutch plug or stopper or whatever it is called. Still, I have not touched the fuel/air so I am a little bit dubious as to how close the Type 1 actually is. Does anyone really know or has anyone had one running when they have done a timed 1/4 mile run?

Your RPM and Speed functions need to be perfect for you to have accurate readings. If you're sure that they're calibrated perfect, then it should come close to what you actually run. I'm trying to get to a track and compare the real times with the times the Type 1 shows.

I know with the G-Tech Pro (newer version), it was about a tenth off against real runs at a track and a few mph faster then what you actually ran.

I just got my Type 1 working and haven't done any time trials, but I'll do a few before and after I get DynoFlashed to see just how much it will help me. It would be helpful if other people posted their times with the Type 1, especially if they've run at the track too. I want to see how accurate this thing really is.

I doubt they are accurate. I made a 60ft pass on my Evo (stock) at 1.62

Made a 60ft pass at the track with the same rpms and technique and ran a 1.81

But I did not use the TT at the same time to compare, thats the only way to know for sure.

it could be dead on.. but you also have to consider a level track and wind!

also, one thing the TT doesn't compensate for is wheel spin

dead stock i ran 12.93 but at the track my best time was 13.8... so i don't use that dumb function anymore

the TT is perfectly accurate. BUT, you have to use the countdown option. Thats where it counts down from 3, otherwise it will be wrong because it doesnt start untill u hit like 3 mph. So if you set it to countdown it will be just like the track including reaction time.
