VW would be a bad choice, the more used, the more problems with those cars. go with either a honda or a subaru

i owned a gti for 3 months and ended up spending over 3k in repairs

I still don't see the problem. You can't afford to keep the evo anymore? The evo is a suitable comuter/DD as long as its running right. (propper tune). Keep the evo.. Not meaning to get into your finances, but how much are your owing on it?

I will have to vote for the Honda/Acura as well. I would definitely stay away from the SRT-4. A friend of mine had one and it was terrible, cheap interior, always breaking down, etc.

get a reliable commute. you'll have to park your car on campus and most likely the car will be nicked and dinged all over. Trust me on this, get something reliable to drive and worryfree from the cosmetic look. finish college and get something else after you get a job.

This would my advice as well, even though it's lame

But honestly, at least you are taking the responsibility that is required to realize your future and your priorities. PROPS TO YOU!!!

I would NOT get a VW for a realiable vehicle to drive 1k miles back and forth, a Honda would be the way to go, find like a 99 SI or something for like $5-6k, should be able to find one in good condition.

P.S. I do own a vw (heavily modified).

99-00 Civic Si is a great car and a great option.

I am glad that you made the decision to go to college man, like other ppl told you, education first! you can always get another EVO. As of finding a car for college, the VW would do just fine. Good luck in college!

Not sure what your budget would be, but I'd look into a Mazdaspeed 3 if you could afford one. If I had to get rid of my Evo for something cheaper, that is definately what I would buy. A guy on my local car forum was selling his 2007 for 16K and it had 20,000 miles on it.

I honestly have never seen a guy driving a prius with a woman in the passenger seat.

If you are looking to go cheap and reliable, a Lancer is much better value for the money. I have a 2003 Lancer with 140k miles on it with minimal repairs done to it. You can get Lancers from auction at a much greater discount than a Honda Civic

Education>Evo. Sell it. You'll be scraping for pennies when you're at school with little time for a full time job. Also, booze and food will kill your bankroll.

After school, you'll have a fully built evo or who knows maybe a nicer car.

As for a daily driver get a 99 civic 1.6 liter non-vtec. Crazy gas mileage and low maintenance costs.

Goodluck at school. Study hard and don't forget to party it up.
