Going to College so Evo has to go - Need Advice :(
I'll spare you a lecture - you have plenty in your near future
If you're going to be putting a lot of miles on your vehicle and you want to be power/mileage/green/etc... concious, go diesel. VW may have soome electrical bugs, but they almost always get you home.
Personally my street vehicle, a Touareg v10 TDI (vv twin turbo) has about 500hp and 700lb-ft of torque, gets 22mpg city and 30mpg highway (tuned). It tows 7k lbs like it's not there and has a life expectancy equivalent to over 1MM miles.
Don't be one of those people who don't understand Total Cost of Ownership (economic and environmental) and buy a hybrid.
If buying a regular gas powered car, a turbo will cause you to spend more on fill ups with premium. As a mechanical engineer major, you and your classmates can buy plenty of HEET, veggie oil and lye and homebrew your fuel if you go diesel. Many diesels in this country run B80-B100.
Good luck

So what do you guys think would be a good asking price for it. Its a 2006 WW SSL with 60k miles. Car is in excellent shape with the performance mods that are posted in my sig. Heres a picture of what it looks like.
I had a 91 16v and then a 97 VR6 before I bought my Evo in 2003. I sold the 16v because I moved from Detroit to Chicago and I didn't think I'd find as reliable a mechanic as the guy I used in Detroit (Monk's). I sold the VR6 because it was costing about $2500 per year in repairs to keep it running and I would rather have a new car payment than that.
If you are going to downgrade to VW then make sure it's a new VW because once they get 4-5 years old it is one thing after another. Just like the Evo

i say keep the car and the left overs money from your loans (if you gettin loans for school), use it for the car payment, i mean a semester is only three months so i am sure you can afford paying for the car for the fall semester(3months)+winter(3months)=6months of school an i am assumin you going to work in summe time. But for those 6 moths use some of your loan money...just my .02cents. But i know you going to regret sellin the car.
I had a 98 GTI and I loved it, I didnt have any problems with it, but you probably dont want that.
my vote also goes to Civic SI. they are cheap and you can get parts anywhere for cheap.
or if u want something closer to Evo, then go with WRX. they are very cheap now.
Im almost done with college, cant wait for it, so i can finally pay off the car and start moding it.

You're evo is really clean, i doubt you'll have problems selling it. Hell, if I had the money I'd buy it! Where are you planning on transferring to in florida?? I'm an Engineering student at fau. That being said... Don't go to fau. Try for University of florida or fsu (if they have a mechanical program) if your grades are good enough.

I actually have already applied at FAU. What don't you like about it? The other school that I applied to is University of South Florida in Tampa.
On another note, I may have found an option that would enable me to keep the car. I'll keep you guys updated.

school>car but if you do want to keep your evo and aren't going to keep it forever you could refi those 6 years and get your payments really cheap otherwise i would get a honda or like two others have stated a miata would be a fun car for autox and they're dirt cheap to mod
