Same thing happens to me. In the same gear to. But it happens more around 6k for me. I just put new plugs in same thing happened. But I know I'm getting boost creep to anywhere from 21-24 psi. I'm sure I'm also hitting fuel cut and running rich. I'm also untuned lol

I agree with fuel cut. If you felt hesitation when you heard the pop, that sounds like the most likely culprit. It used to happen to me all the time before I got tuned. Get the car tuned.

that happened to me once and my car is stock...just too much fuel got in there or something...that has only happened once though since i had the car...kinda felt like it bogged down for a sec then came back

+1 fuel cut and back fire... i did the same thing in cold temps the other day, same thing gears and all. i just did a tbe and intake and no tune yet. it sounded like a bomb went off under the car lol. wish i could of got a pic of the fireball out the back

get a tune...

i would look in your engine bay for anything loose if not. probly your car saying hi to the rest of the drivers on the road with a backfire.
