Radio/ Gauge Pod Swap?
Hey,
I'm pretty new to the community and looking to buy an MR. I noticed in my research that in a lot of cars the radio and the gauge pod are in different positions from car to car. What's the deal?

From the factory in the 06 and earlier MR's the factory gagues are on the bottom part and radio on top. A lot of people buy a relocation kit and switch the locations so you can actually see the gauges when driving. I'm not sure about the Evo X's.
The gauges were stock on MRs and RS', and optional on all other Evos. FWIW, I opted for a set on my SE. There's no need for a relocation kit, if the car came with gauges. As mentioned, folks flip the radio and the gauges, because it makes the gauges easier to see and (radio) ergonomics improve, as well, as a bonus. It's very easy to flip the two and it's worth doing.
if you have a headunit or oem gauges in the lower cubby that means you already have a radio relocation kit and they can simply be swapped if you'd like
