I was going to buy the ebay guy's brackets and I messaged Binary. Suddenly an auction popped up stating not to buy knock offs and buy the real deal on Ebay but no passenger side from Binary. Regardless, I would say these are not "cheap knock offs". The quality/fit/finish is identical other than color. I'm guessing the Ebay guy got a set of Binary's and then decided he could profit off of them. Think about it, once you get past the initial cost they're pretty cheap to make. We see it all the time. Think about how much money the generic drug companies make off copying name brand drugs and it's the same stuff.

Note - I ended up with the Binary driver's side because he beat the other guy's price via auction price and I'm not worried about the passenger noticing a difference.

I almost spray painted them black, but was to lazy in the end. I would agree about the quality though, they felt really solid.. It makes sense what you're saying, they probably are completely identical, other than color.

I sit corrected, you did your checking. Maybe it was your phone call that prompted the sale. In that case, nice work.

What sucks is that the egay seller did nothing except bite some one elses product, and produced it. It should be cheaper than Binarys as the egay seller did nothing except copy some elses product.

I would rather buy from some one who has tried to share and give back to the community(look at Binarys old posts, always giving back), as opposed to the other who is trying to line his pockets with some one elses ideas.

+1. I have full set of Binary lowering seat brackets. I got them both on a special weekend sale he was having so I saved a lot originally.

Theres ebay copies and other local area copies but Binary was the first one to make them from scratch. The other brackets were probably quickly copied to make a quick buck.

Then go buy from Binary if you feel the need to rant in here more than once. Many people see that as economically illogical, which is 100% correct. And in times like these, I'm not going to spend a dime more than what I need to.

What's funny is that you probably buy rip-off brands at the store multiple times a week and don't even think about it. But when someone sells something Evo-related, it clicks.

It's simple economics man, as more competitors enter the market, price level goes down.

I think I'll be picking up a set of these over the coming weekend.

Ummm, facts are one thing. Your speculations are a whole other story.

And yes, I rock the Binary backets.

To each their own, I suppose. I felt like the lowering brackets sold by binaryeng were WAY overpriced. The cost of R&D goes down over time, as the product makes the money back for time spent developing them. How long have these brackets been out? I'd argue long enough that the cost of R&D for fabricating four pieces of metal to tolerance has been recouped.

Don't get me wrong, I want the brackets too, they look like they place the driver right where they should have been in the first place. **Until this ebay competition came along though, I felt like the binary brackets were simply overpriced @230.00 for the whole set.**

I'm glad to see the prices come down, and I'm glad to see that the binary guys are doing something other than complain about getting ripped off, and then pointing out why their metal brackets are better. If the price is right, I don't know of many, if any people on that would rather the cheap ebay knockoffs over the binary brackets. Hats off to the binary guys for dropping the prices and making them a better deal. I may finally get my cheap @ss in line for a set now...

There are no speculations in my post and if you've taken a elementary level economics class, my comments are facts.

Like someone said earlier, Binary brackets are ridiculously overpriced for some pieces of metal. "R&D" was just some basic CADD work, there's not much to it.

So congrats on you having genuine, USDM, mad tyte Binary bracket. We are going to save over $100 getting the same exact thing.

Its not just about the money difference and which costs more, I would agree with revvin that it just sucks that someone copied binarys product and is just marketing them for less. I agree that maybe binary should lower his prices to compare with this E-bay seller, but I would also pay a little more (maybe 100, not quite decided) to support a true Evo enthusiast who is using the profits to finance his own build/project car. I have spent a few DAYS reading jid2 (binarys) thread on his build and have come to realize and read that he is a very informative person who likes to help others who are in need during their builds. (Therad URL: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...3076build.html)

I am just a fan of supporting the original inventor, especially if I have some idea of what he is doing with the profits/proceeds and he is a true enthusiast instead of someone trying to make a quick dollar off of the product.

Has anyone PMed him about the Ebay site? Maybe he would be willing to drop the prices a bit to compete. It just sucks that someone ripped off his idea (although it was bound to happen sooner or later).

Do you think they egay seller would have thought of these on his own had the Binary brackets not been out already?

You obviously skipped the rest of my post where he has actually has given back to the community. I'm not here to sway your decision, I have my own opinion and i'm entitled to it.

And no I have no need to buy rip off brands, my math class taught me if I have money to buy the product, than buy it.

This is just an example!
Coca-Cola founded in 1944 (Dating back even further to 1886)
Pepsi Co founded in 1965

Who Drinks Pepsi over Coke? You should be ashamed of your selves!!! LOL

It's the same concept here guys, he doesen't have a pattend on it so the ebay dude can sell his all day if he wants. I have no use for this product but everybody is different. I don't knock people for wanting to support fellow EVO owners but it all boils down to Economics like somebody else had said. MF-ers are broke these days...
It sucks that the guy "took" his idea and is making money from it but $hit happens I guess.

i dunno if i'd want to sit any lower. i'm 6'4" and the seat height is fine for me. funny that all these 5'11" guys need lower seats lol

i actually had people sit in my car that drove EVO's as well and they actually asked me if i had installed lower brackets because my seats sat lower than theirs. maybe mine are defective, and taht's why i don't need lower brackets lol
