Get in touch with this guy:

Maybe his expertise can be applied to an Evo.

I was just curious, not looking to rev higher then needed. I know that some dragcars run 11.000 rpm on evo engines.

what turbo are you using? no point in reving a motor past what a turbo can handle. and i would not rev a stock motor/valvetrain to high. 8500 maybe. and that might be to high still.

my rev. limit is 8000 rpm with a fp3065. I dont need to rev that high though. But wanted to know how far the evo engine is pushed rpm wise in general.

It depends on the valvetrain as well as a combination of you motor. Most people have a rev limiter set at a safer RPm.

He's not asking "What is the safest way to rev an engine really high". He's just wants to know the highest revving Evo known.

Probably an evo where the owner mis shifted from 3rd gear redline into 2nd gear? The question is too vague, is it for road racing or drag racing? Last one race or for long term usage? Stock internals or modified? etc etc

His question is very simple. People are over-thinking it. An Evo is an Evo no matter what it's used for, how long the time intervals of use are, or what internals it it equipped with.

What did shep spin his out too? If he didnt need 11k+ I doubt the need would ever arise in an evo.

Likely the number you will find will be in the 10-10.5 range.

He was well over 11k and yes it wont be needed in an Evo for quite some time still.. There will be a day though i am sure of a 190mph Evo..
