Upgrade question

I purchased my evo about a month ago and ready to start making some hp. Only problem I have is the stock fmic is bent a little but it is not leaking. I am wondering when I get my tbe, intake, o2 housing put on and have the boost turned up will it hold? I know there is no way to really tell but would you continue on and hope for the best of would your first step be to just get a fmic kit and start there. And if I do go the fmic route would I need a tune after or would I be ok for a few months?

Get the intercooler pressure tested, that should tell you what you need to know.

Unless it has a leak in it, you should be fine. If you're worried about it, do a boost leak test before you tune.

Swapping in and out of a front mount isn't really going to require a re-tune unless you're going to be tuned to the edge or require a retune that will largely benefit from lowering your intake temps. (Anything over 400 IMO)

When you say make some HP, how much? What's your goals? What type of mods are you looking to do?

I am just looking to maybe 350whp atm. Not sure if I will go further in the future or not.

Unless it bothers you or you really do have a leak - replace it later on down in the mod path. I did mine early out of want, knowing later on I would benefit from it.

I went with the AMS FMIC. There are great ones from Extreme Turbo Systems, Buschur and others. Do lots of research and reading in the Dyno results threads / Engine threads. Lots of testing etc... Good luck.

I dented mine within the first week of owning my Evo. Luckily, someone on ebay had a special on their mishimoto IC's. Picked one up and I'm happy so far!
