A Case for keeping it stock
To me modding is fun and a challenge of sorts to make things work and gain benefit from it. Although, I haven't modded my Evo one bit because it's an unbelievable car, in stock trim
Plus I like having money in my pocket and a warranty
My last car I spent thousands of dollars on and did tons of mods to it. Someday I'll work on the Evo, but not for a while.

I am leaving mine stock mainly because my platinum warranty is good for 100k miles.
The only things that I have done to it are:
Full 3M clear bra and side mirrors
Viper Alarm
Short antenna because the stock antenna was slightly bent and rubbed on the wing when the truck was open.
My Supra will be my project car...when I get one. HAHA

I think pads, lines, and fluid need to at least be upgraded.
Here is my take on this topic. I agree the Evo is a beast out the box. But to be the king of the jungle, you've got to be the baddest mf in the jungle. Modding is an addiction, much like women to shopping. Some things we need and some we don't, but we get it anyway.
I just do not want to be smoked
by a V8 beefed out, so I will add a few things here and there to be the king of the jungle!

I disagree on the brakes I do track lapping days and I did not find the breaks to be bad at all. I can see upgrading the pads after the stock ware out and maybe slotted rotors as a bonus but the calipers are fine could they be better yes is it necessary I don't think so and considering they are better than any vette, cobra, and even some of the exotics that I have seen at the track.
Hello, my name is Greg, and I'm a bolt-on-aholic. My car is fast, but never fast enough. I have been addicted for 25 years, and cannot stay on the wagon. Nor do I want to!!
This car will be less of a rolling experiment than my last one though, it needs to be somewhat reliable.

I agree with the other post that mentioned how the conversation is a lot better when mods are discussed. I enjoyed talking VW mods when I had my GTI, but that was when GTI's like mine were all over the place.
I drive all over Chicagoland and from Chicago-Ann Arbor without seeing a single other Evo. (Not that there's anything wrong with that
.) Are there people out there modding without another Evo (SRT, STi, etc) in sight?
I like the word, "sleeper"
I want to keep my car close to stock with a few mods... Dont want to go crazy but i like acceleration to an extent. I'm planning on doing some autoX in the summer so i would like to have some fun.

Modding is somewut like a hobby, also i like to mod for thaat rush you get when you nail it after you finished installing something. Like a new high everytime you do it
you can always make someting better!!

I haven't modded mine yet, simply because, admittedly, I know I cannot drive this car to the fullest yet. It is very tempting to add more power, but adding more power will only make it more difficult with more risk at this point. Until I finish a performance driving school, I'm keeping mine stock.
It's more of a bragging rights too. When you race and beat someone and tell them you're modded, it becomes an excuse on why they lost.

I have yet to add more power to the car (bolt-ons) because I am still learning the driving charateristics of teh car. Since the weather has cooled drastically in AZ over the past few days, I have noticed a boost in performance with that alone. I only wanted to get rid of the gawdy wheel gap, so I did a TEIn coil-over set-up and a GReddy turbo timer. I will be working on performance mods soon, but I want to see what the car is capable of stock so I have an adequate means of measuring performance gains by bolt-ons. Now, what is teh ECU flash upgrade and brake line upgrade that you speak of? Could you post a link please?? Thanks...
it's a hobby
some people like to modify cars, others like to pick their noses
whatever floats your boat... leave it stock!
some people may not know how to appreciate what they have, and they'd rather have more than the next person
