quick ecu question

quick ecu question

is it okay to swap a IX rs ecu with a IX mr ecu? is there any diff between the 2? my buddy has a full bolt on car with bbk turbo and tuned... and im stock.. we are swaping all parts from his car to mine and my stock parts to his and i was going to swap ecu so itll be safe for me to drive till i get tuned and same for him... will it be ok?

why not load his tune into your ecu instead of swapping actual ecu's. that would be a lot easier

how would that be easier?? i unbolt his and mine and swap.. total of 5 mins.. i dont have a way to upload his map

im pretty sure your gonna have to set up the immobilizer on the ecu, so if you dont have a way to swap his map, then you wont have a way to do that.... which means the car will not start

I have heard that the ecu does not swap out without being re programmed.

I ran into that, bought a new ECU and my stupid azz didn't know that the ECU and an Immoblelizer built in, Racked my brains for 2 weeks wondering what was wrong with the car. Finally figured it out and fired right up. Good Deal though.

You'll need to flash your immobilizer code into his ECU one in your car. You'll need a tactrix cable, and EcuFlash on a laptop.
