New parts installed! But bogs sometimes...
Hey guys, I just had some parts installed and did some myself. Only thing problem is that the engine bogs out / goes up to three grand mid "rev" and cuts out. Then it will sit at 500 rpm and acts like it's about to cut out until I give it a little gas.
I had a professional install a walboro fuel pump. But I installed the injen intake system with lower And upper intercooler piping. I have a JGT turbo back exhaust but there is no o2 sensor on the exhaust itself.
I haven't had the car tuned yet and am assuming that it just needs to be tuned to fix this bogging out. I was wondering if this is the only problem that could be happening, any thoughts?
Thanks!

Check for a boost leak. After installing all new piping you could have a boost/vacuum leak that could cause hesitation or bogging issues. Go here for boost leak info!

The guy who installed my fuel pump says I need to get an axis port in order to get a tune. I know I could also get a dyno tune but what would be my best bet? The axis ports run 600 according to my mechanic. I'm not the most saavy with car mechanics, but I'm not doing anymore big mods anytime soon. What would be my best bet? Get th car dyno tuned or pick up the axis port and get it tuned that way? Help!
Thanks

No an access port is not needed. The Evo ECU is flashable with ECU Flash. All that is needed is a Tactrix cable, Evo Scan, and a knowlege of tuning. AMS (www.amsperformance.com) for example a highly known shop in the Evo community, is located in Chicago. Check them out, I am sure they can tune your car for about the same price as the access port, if not cheaper.

Tune...that Fuel pump alone is probably richening up the entire map by maybe 10% (possibly more)...so the car isn't mapped to that kind of fueling.
Not sure what is causing the rev limit issue...but definitely drive gingerly until you can get a tune.

+1 for boost leak check.
That was the first problem I had with my car, and it drove me nuts til a guy sat down, went for a ride, and diagnosed it in less than ten minutes. No replacement for experience...

The fuel pump is the source of the issue, I'm 99% sure. Tunes are required when fuel pumps are installed. Plus the air flow has increased I'm sure because of the intercooler pipes, so the ECU is having trouble reading the AFR. You could try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it. The ECU may then "relearn" AFR, but it still would need a tune.

can't wait till Monday !
