Hmm...will they really replace the armrest and the door panel cloth material under warranty? I figured this was another one of those wear and tear items. Sorry for not updating the first post. I have been working late the past few weeks.

Took in my 06 IX MR since the factory warranty is almost up (november). They're replacing my HVAC nobs and the front left strut (oil leaking). Also sent in a request for the armrest/door cloth material... pending headquarters approval for warranty claim on those. Either way, didn't expect anything and came out ahead. cheers

Ok, this is OT but no point in starting a new thread about it.

Called Local Mitsu dealership to make an appointment for my 60k service.

Head tech there says i'm still covered under warranty so I dont need to do the service. If anything breaks it's covered. TB (if this breaks it's more then just a belt to fix), WP, Plugs, Serp Belt etc.

I kept asking him if he was sure because it didn't sound right to me. He told me that I was good up to 10year/100k and if my car wasn't performing like it should I should just change the plugs out.

Anyone ever been told this? Kind of odd that they would tell me not to do the 60k service.

That's a lie. In the handbook it says your warranty is only good if you have proof that you kept up with the regular maintenance. Even if you did it yourself you have to maintain receipts.

In regards to the door cloth, can they even replace that material without giving you a brand new door panel? Mine is a bit faded from my elbow, but if they are going to try and have some hackjob upholstery shop reupholster the same exact door panel I don't think I will bother.

Evo IX - ~28,000 miles

Had the dealer look over the grinding noise from the timing belt area that plagues many IXs. They replaced several tensioners for the timing belt under warranty ... but didn't fix the grind, which seems to be in the MIVEC system.

I've got 3 friends locally who have had brakes replaced under warranty on the IXs for peeling. One also had the steering wheel replaced at 50+k. I'm taking mine in for the steering wheel soon as well ... separating at the 6:00 and 3:00 positions.

I'm sitting in the library reading this and I bust out laughing. Everyone looked at me really strange. Seriously though, that's hilarious.

To keep on topic, my IX has 34,000 miles and has never had any warranty work done. The engine popped a rod out a couple of weeks ago, but due to the amount of mods on the car, definitely not warrantied. But seeing this thread makes me want to go home and check the inside of my fenders.

That sounds very strange as I know you are talking about Roseville Mitsu. I'm there all the time and they would never tell me that.

I plan on taking my Evo back there and trying to get my Brakes, Arm Rest, Center Console (broken clips that hold it down), and paint (2nd try) to get covered under warranty before it ends in October.

Correct, spoke with Dave or David.

I guess i'll call back and talk to him again maybe get something in writing. I really don't feel comfortable about going 100k or waiting for something to break.

Your best bet is to go by the manual and have Dave take care of you. He's honest and does what he can, it's the Service Manager there that Jews everyone.

Nothing was done under warranty. Took it to Ann Arbor Mitsubishi once to check out a grinding noise. Thought it was wheel bearing. The guys there told it was tyres. I did not believe - in any case the tires were almost worn - the grinding noise was gone. Infact the new tires did soften the ride a bit - but at the loss of grip

I just had the ACD pump (30K miles) replaced under warranty. I asked to have the grill and brake calipers replaced due to paint chipping off but that didn't work.

Nothing. Only thing that has broken was a fuse popped under the hood once. It was after warranty and cost me $70 bucks to get fixed. 104k, still on stock clutch. Take care of it...its a good car.
