03 evo 8 blown motor

Well, I was driving home last night doing about 70 when the car started doing a weird "bucking" so I let off the gas and it stopped. I slowed down to about 55 and started to accelerate again, and the loudest ticking sound started to happen. I started to slow down and pull off the road, as I got to about 10 mph, the car stalled. I checked the ic pipes, looked for leaks, checked all the usual stuff...no cel, nothing immediately noticed. Went to start the car, after several attempts it would only start while i was giving it gas and was running very rough. I drove it home the last 7 miles. Took it to a garage today. Compression test show 135-140 on cylinders 1-3 and 50 on cylinder 4. The garage didn't go any further, so I don't know exactly went wrong, or how bad the crank/block is. I'm going to get the car towed home and figure out what to do. I only have 44 K miles on it. Mods were intake, kelford 272 cams, ARP headstuds, BR 3" turboback, Mil spec hi flo cat, walbro 255, hallman mbc, tuned at BR. Now I have to figure if I'm going to fix it...either stock rebuild, or BR shortblock, or see about selling the car as is, or part it out. So I'm off to seach for engine options...if anyone has ideas I'm definitely open to them.

Mike

the ticking was probably your valves in cylinder 4 hitting the pistons.. vavles got stuck open maybe?

did it run hot? running an engine extremely hot can do alot more damage than just blowing the head gasket. ive seen it burn/stretch valves, even burn/melt pistons and rings....

GL man!

Just curious if you were running the stock springs and retainers with your Kelfords?
