Helloo, Ive got a 03 rally red. I just sold my 04 gt40 full bolt on srt4 and decided to try something new.
I bought the car as it sits. For some reason, the car wont rev past 5k. dunno what it could be, havent really had the chance to look into it yet. The check engine light is on, Havent pulled the codes. I just bought the car, didnt take delivery of it yet, so im trying to see if its just a random sensor i need to swap out, if its a common problem. Im not too familiar with the evo's, so im hoping its something simple!

Does it have the stock intake snorkel. If so make sure the clips are there to hold it to the rad support. If not it lifts and chokes out air flow.

Will do thanks guys, And yeah its got the stock pipe, aftermarket bov though so its got some sort of silver cap on where the stocker goes.
Ill pull the codes when i pick it up, I still havent taken possesion of the vehicle. And ill make sure the pipes strapped, It more then likely isnt. Thanks for the pointers, Any other ideas before i pull the codes?

^This. The ******* I bought my car from had the clips out of the snorkel and the car fell on it's face right around 5k. it didn't stop revving, it just stops pulling very hard.

This breaks up like it hits fuel cut, Once it hits right around 5k, Thats it. Like im bumping the rev limiter. but it breaks up like over boost, maybe its something simple like the vacuum line came off the wga, or maybe its hitting fuel cut because the line came off the fuel rail...I havent examined it close enough to rule anything out yet
This could be, Theyve got the stock intake on there where the metal mesh is exposed, no pipe. ghetto as hell. Im picking the car up for a reasonable price, its got stuff done that the guy doesnt even know it has from the previous owner...I just would like to figure it out as soon as i can, I dont want to take this 2k mile trip to FL back home with it in limp mode or fuel cut or anything. Trying to play it as safe as possible.
