this is why im on the fence getting rid of the bbk full. it makes good torque, but its limited to 4xx hp/tq, whereas a bigger turbo could go to 6xx hp/4xx tq at a higher rpm.

Its all about area under the curve and your useable powerband.

If you BBK makes say 400ftlbs at 3800rpm that is great and yes a bigger turbo might only make 325ftbls at 3800rpm. That is where you decide what your motor use is and what your useable powerband is.

If your motor can support 9K rpm then a powerband from a big turbo that makes 325ftbls at 3800 rpm and 400 ftlbs at 4400 rpm and 475ftbls at 5000rpm and the resulting horsepower from the equation in the first post etc would be amazing.

I think the OP has good intentions of trying to understand how numbers work with each other, but ultimately he failed to express goals or a desired accomplishment from the info he is obtaining.

this. in relation, this is why i found this particular statement caught my eye:

" 'It's better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm, because you can take advantage of gearing.' For any given level of torque, making it at a higher rpm means you increase horsepower"

and yes, i know someone else already posted it..

Neither of the two (high rpm torque or low rpm torque) is better. Just different. low rpm torque will serve you better on the street because you normally would drive slow. but on the track, you want to be revving as high as you can without going out of your powerband or breaking your motor, so having a high rpm powerband will be in your favor as you won't be ever below 4500 rpm.
