shop is taking too long?
so my friends were telling me about this shop that they go to. they tell me that this guy is sick when it comes to built a motor , but the shop takes their sweet time
i figure that building my motor was my next step since i already had a bunch of parts in the car so i decided to go ahead.
i took my car in jan 2010, its almost april and my car is not ready still. im about to loose my mind without my baby for so long, my friends keep telling me that they warned
me that i won't regret it, but seriously i don't know how much longer i can take of this.
i was wondering how many of u guys have experinced this trauma that im going through?
lets hear it...

4 mos is pretty long to build A motor. But you have to factor a few things in:
how big is the shop? if theyre big, then they probably have multiple projects
also, what kind of parts are you using; and are they in stock or back ordered.
If neither one of those answers is conducive to their lengthy build time, then they just put you on the back burner for some reason. That would be unacceptable, but you're kind of stuck. Good luck

is that normal?

A shop should not take that long to build an engine, even waiting on parts. You should ask what is taking so long and why. If they know what there doing it should of been done a long time ago.

I'm in the same boat. Sent my car in beginning of jan for a rebuild to a 2.3 and they say it will be rdy next week. They've had to wait on parts, wait on the special tool kits. Sent the block to the machine shop 3 times bc the mchine shop couldn't get it right. And also building that plus the tcase crank oil pump and clutch disc. Its a pain in the *** without a car. Won't be puttin it in the shop again unless I alrdy have the parts and/or going out of town for a while and won't need a car

Should have just bought a short block assembly and saved yourself some time. There is probably a decent waiting list at the machine shop. The one I wanted to do my motor around here has a month and a half back list on motor builds. I can't wait that long so I will have to pay a little more for the build, but that also means I get AMS to do all the machine work for me, so I know its a professional job.
