Well trading in the GLi finally for some car that was always in my heart and always wanted and EVO 8. But, the guy just got in an 06 EVO IX SE, haven't heard anything about the SE is it just like the regular evo 9? any special features.

Evo 9 are actually nicer then evo8's pretty similar. With the 9 you get mivec which is a nice upgrade for the evo's nicer interier then the 8's. Your going to love it. Just make sure no loud whines are weird noises and tranny feel good.

 

The IX is a better car. It's got more power, responds better to mods, and it's got a front LSD, as well as ACD. 05 EVO 8's had those features, but the 03-04's didn't. Over the base IX, the SE model adds the BBS wheels from the MR (but in a diamond black finish), aluminum roof, HID's, red stitching on the seats inside, bilstein suspension (correct me if i'm wrong), and SE badging. It still has the 5 speed transmission of the regular IX though. You'll love the IX.

 

No Bilsteins on the SE and an alternate lip. Other than that, right on.

 

front hood and fenders are also aluminum on se. also se had diamond black finish BBS wheel, same wheel as mr but different color

 

hood and fenders are same on ALL evos 03 to 06 irrelevant of model, maybe you are getting mixed up with the roof which is aluminum instead of steel.

that being said the SE i would have to say is the greatest of all the 4g36 evos in terms of bang for the buck. but i still cant comprehend still why people jump from an 8 to a 9... sorry after all these years i still cant understand the logic vs financial cost.

There was also a somewhat rare MR with appearance package, which is an MR with the SE goodies. Usually just called an IX MR SE.

i would go for the evo 9 SE or the MR. if u want 5 speed then 5 speed. 6 speed then MR
