Changing hotside of a 05' Evo
This has already been covered. To id a hotside it is not written anywhere on the outside of the hotside which it is. The easiest way to id a 10.5 hotside if its on the car and you do not know, standing directly in front of ur car look at the flange on the hotside that bolts to the manifold. If it has a semi circle machined out of the top it is a 10.5. The only place it says whether or not it is a 10.5 or 9.8 is inside the twin scroll port and the turbo or housing would need to be removed to see this. Also the numbers cast in the outside are different. The 9.8 housing numbers are 78-13010 115 and has 281 above that number. Inside the right scroll it says 098 for 9..8. The 10.5 hotside cast number is longer and different. Ill post a link in a few seconds to show the semi circle im refferring to on a 10.5 housing.
Here is the link to fp's site of a 9 turbo if you click the lower middle thumbnail you can see the semi circle machined out of the flange. This is the easiest way to determine if its a 10.5. The 9.8 does NOT have this semi circle and it can be seen with the turbo on the car.
