As enthusiasts, it's fairly easy for us to organize driving events at sanctioned racetracks around the us. But the very second the word 'race' is used, there are a whole lot of other things to consider legally. These things make the setting up of the event much more difficult. And if the race is to take place on a public road, it then becomes almost impossible for enthusiasts to organize....
But this SSCC event looks cool!

its FLAT OUT 90 miles in nevada. What does everyone think? sure we'd have to make some ground rules but that can come all later on. 90 miles flat out will be a BIG test for a cars tune state. none of that 1/4 mile BS longevity.
i'd be willing to pony up some $$ to make a purse for the winner.

On the big road course at Willow Springs, my EVO averages about 6mpg. To do 90miles, it would theoretically need 15 gallons of fuel. In reality, I'm thinking more like 17 gallons since I get fuel slosh at anything below 1/8 tank under hard cornering.
Hey Kartboy, wanna co-drive with me?

Wow.. SSCC.. I haven't heard anyone mention that recently... I originally began building my malibu to run the challenge.. Ran out of money for big brakes and a good rear, so the car became a show car.
I've been considering the 120mph class (Is there a 120 class?) with the Evo.. But It never even occurred to me that it may not hold enough fuel to run the entire distance.. Not to mention you probably would have to run lower boost (make just enough power to do the job, but not burn up anything)

to run anything above the 130mph class (or so...the website is not working right now), you probably need a rollcage.
Isn't gearing going to mess with the evo anyway..... you can only run 160-165mph top unless you change the gearing...which then slows down your acceleration though......
it would still be fun to run in the 130mph or so class.....

this months (either c&d or mototrend) has a peice on that race. the one with the gto on the cover. there was a 600hp 350z that entered, it blew a tire and crashed. it looks kind of like an orange porshe at first glance. but hey if a 350z would enter why not an evo? i think it would be dope to see what an evo could do in a top speed race.
