Dont go through all that hassle for weight savings! Youtube the video bestmotoring did. They slapped vinyl weight to the roof of an mr and it actually clocked a faster slalom time and identical times to everything else. If its for looks then by all means.

 

I read what you are saying but that doesn't make sense. Everything I learned about car, more weight, furthest off center of gravity... I .. can't .. compute...

 

I have been faced with this same problem. There is a place that makes carbon plugs custom for about $600-$700, factory Aluminum roof can be had new for about $800, and then you can get the carbon for $1200. OR.... you could always have a bodyshop weld in a patch panel which would probably be the most economical choice after all install fees are associated with the other options, minus the plug.

 

y would u wanna get rid of it..... i wish i had a sun roof
