Question for those with Evo VII JDM Taillights - Where is the red coating?

Question for those with Evo VII JDM Taillights - Where is the red coating?
I've poured over pictures of the Evo VII JDM Tail lights and I can't figure out how the reverse light comes through clear. Is the red coating of the lights on the inside of the housing? Is it a red chrome? Does anyone have any close up pictures? It would help greatly!

The housing of the taillights is red and the lense is clear.
