Car bogging Wot or acclerating

I have an 05 Evo 8 when I floor it it bogs but when I give it a little bit of gas it runs fine! I checked all my hoses everything the turbo spools up good. Even the bov sounds like its holding boost. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is? I checked my spark plugs and they are Black so I'm running rich! I bought the car from auction so it must have been sitting there for a while it could be the gas in the car is bad or the catalytic converter is not good. When I accelerate the car backfires like crazy

*** CAR IS BOGGING ON THROTTLE AND SPARK PLUGS ARE BLACK SO I'M RUNNING RICH. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I'm having a similar problem although not as bad. If I back off the throttle just a tad the car runs good, but if I try to go WOT once it hits around 5000 rpms it starts to misfire. Is it just an issue with the tune or could there be more to the problem such as needing to upgrade the coils or ignition system? My mods are listed in my sig. Any help would be appreciated.

EvoScan and a tactrix cable are your friends.

Get them and see what the heck you have. Maybe someone took off some go fast parts and didn't flash it back to partial mod.

Also, gap plugs somewhere around .23

It's gotta be more than just the plugs because I've burnt up three sets of plugs now in the last 1,000 miles.

It doesn't hurt to change them. Maybe the guy never change them at all.

The engine Isn't throwing off any codes I might just take my ecu out and take it to a tuner shop see if the car was previously tuned maybe the previous owner did took off some parts like a boost controller and He probably upped the boost so the car is prob giving more gas then it should. I'll see if I can go back to stock or tune it to the mods I have!

search the forum for a respected vendor near your area, take it there to have it checked out! sounds like you dont know what this car could have been through. but thats the risk you take when buying from an auction... good luck

Dude its probably the tune. If you had a tactrix cable you could log it and send it to me or someone else and they could look it over for you to help you out. But without one your basically going to have to take it to a shop or find someone locally who knows how to tune an evo to get her running smooth. I buy evos off auctions frequently and when an evo owner (for whatever reason) is forced to put their car in an auction, they feel the need to take aftermarket parts or maybe try and screw their bank lol. anyways. Post a log and your map on here and some1 will be around to help you out.

It could def be the tune. You could possibly be getting knock and your car could be pulling timing bc of it. Does it feel like its way down on power? If so thats bc your car is pulling timing.

It does feel like it's not quite producing the same amount of power as when I first got it. If it is knock and the timing then what would be the solution?
