HELP! drivershaft

OK, I had this whining sound coming from the rear end. I just replaced my T case with the new one, so its not it. I have heard the improperly installed driveshaft could make noise. I had my driveshaft disconnected while doing the t case install, but I probably misaligned the driveshaft the way it came out. How do I line up the front end of the driveshaft to the rear end of the driveshaft?

If everything is bolted up in the stock locations it should line up, if it's whining its cuz you don't have enough fluid in it and it's probably already damaged.

The drive shaft should go in after you bolt the Tcase on and have the tranny on the car. If those 2 are done the drive shaft should just slide in. Is that not the case?

On the video that explains t case removal, it says to mark the driveshaft the way it came out. My t case and trans is in the car. The front end of a driveshaft slides in the t case and the other end needs to be bolted down to a rear end with 4 bolts. Rear end must be bolted down in the same way it came out, I have heard this in number of sources, they recommend to mark it down before you take it out, but I didnt I might have to just try reinstall it couple times, to see if noise dissapears.

Wait not sure we are talking about the same thing. Are you talking about the Drive shaft the goes into the Transmissoion and into the Tcase or the Drive shaft that runs under the car from the TCase to the Rear of the car..

??

You mean halfshaft? No, hes not talking about the halfshafts.

Hes saying that he removed the DRIVESHAFT, from the tcase to the rear diff, and he thinks he installed it wrong and thats why its whining.

OP: You could try and remove it and switch the position of the driveshaft. Also check your rear diff fluid. Didnt you mention in another thread that it was bone dry before or am i mistaken?

Ya it should line up fine, but if its installed in a different position it COULD cause vibrations and/or noise.

I only removed front half of the driveshaft that connects to the tcase. On one end it slides in the tcase, on the other end it has 4 bolts connecting to the rear half of the driveshaft (that is the location that needs to be bolted down same way it came off) I'll just try to reinstall it and see if that helps, if not, most likely its my rear end cause i drove the car for 2 miles with no fluid in the rear end...

gotta wait for my block to get back from the shop that is getting a full rebuild... this car eats my money big time...

well, if you'd just leave it alone and drive it (and remember to refill fluids), things wouldn't break, and it wouldn't eat any extra money at all.

remember that before you start complaining about the car. good luck with the fix.
