I'm done with Audi's.
“So, I’ve got an Audi A4 1.8t.” I have been listening to myself say that since 2001. At first it was great. Sure, I loved my car, I mean why not? It’s nice to look at, has a clear tuning path, nice interior, great people on Audiworld (for the most part), and hey, gotta love Quattro. But, you know, after a while time marches on, things change, dollars exchange hands, and what have I accomplished? Not much, about 240 hp, 280 tq. I know don’t laugh. It’s kind of pathetic really, ~$30,000 for the car and $5,000 more in mods and I have a low velocity, nice looking, pig of a car. Nice right? So, I quit. It’ll never be an EVO no matter how much money I dump into it. Sure, there are arguments for keeping the Audi, but again, it’s too much money for what you get. I also feel the arguments about the EVO on Audiworld are getting tired and wearing thin. I constantly hear “ricer”, “econobox interior”, “ugly”, “juvenile”, “gaudy”, and “unrefined”. The arguments seem to be related to stereotypes of the people driving the cars, and not the car itself. Yes, aesthetics are an issue, but who’s to say Audi’s are the best looking cars on the planet? And when were EVO’s made to be pseudo sporty, luxury cars? Anyhow, rant over. I’m buying an EVO.
welcome to the "club" It seems like you understand what the true use of an EVO is. I come from an E30 ///M3 myself, so now that you have played with the rest come drive the best....except for a Skyline GTR of course

Well, as you can tell by my screename, I had an S4. It was great. It had NAV, leather, 6 disc changer, Bose stereo and looked great. I loved it. It drove like **** but when I had reunions, dinners and weddings, that was the car to drive. My Evo is like the ugly girlfriend who's good in bed. I have a weightless white, with white WRC Tarmac wheels and that wing. Needless to say, I can't bring her anywhere outside of the racetrack. The moral to my story. Keep both.
I guess it all depends on what you want. You can't have everything for $30K so you have decide whats important to you. When my VR4 was out of commission for 3 months I drove an Audi during that time. The Audi was so comfy, but it had no power. In the end I knew performance matters to me, not looks.
Yep know how you feel. I tried the S4 thing for a bit. After researching A4s...they top out a little after 300bhp...after adding tons of mods and $$$. I got the S4 modded to more than 300HP and was loving the 360lb/ft....but it was a whale. And would have taken half the cost of the car to sort things out with suspension and engine. The S4 is not a sports car but a grand tourer.
Give yourself time to adjust to ALL the extra mechnical noises you are going to hear over the Audi...but I bet you'll get less wind noise at 70 over the Audi. Leave the car stock for a while, it's very, very fast out of the box.

What he said.
The Audi A4's have always been a joke. People who drive them think they have a fast car just because it has a turbo in it. Take the gay wing off the EVO, replace the tail lights and it won't stand out as much.
No Buyer's Remorse
The last car I looked at before the Evo was a used S4. A 2001 in good condition from a dealer is more than $30000.
I also started noticing a lot more women driving S4's, at least here in Chicago. It was my favorite car since it came out, but when it came with an automatic I started seeing more women driving it. No chick car for me!
4-series Audis are a dime a dozen. You will love the Evo.

I don't know if I agree that A4 is a joke. It is a well put together, nice little car, but I do agree about the drivers. And look at what they are spending to run high 12's. ~$5,000. That is the real joke.
