$10 boost controller?
I ran across a homemade manual boost controller on ebay for $10. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2442293746 Does this not work efficiently or something because $10 is a great price...or is this some BS thing that doesnt work well...Any feedback would be appreciated because I really want to buy this for my evo
a lot has been said about those boost controllers and if u do a search, u can find tons of info. That was where I got my info as well. Well, these boost controller seems to work and u can get it at any hardware store basically. It's just a ball and spring device but you gotta know what size tubing and valve u gotta get so u can rather spend the 10 bucks to be safe. It should work just as well as any other manual boost controllers but i rather get an HKS EVC wen I have money/
That's just a crappy manual boost controller, you know where you use a allen key to either turn up the boost or turn it down. I know Turbo XS makes one that is a little more advanced, it has a High Boost Setting and a Low Boost Setting. They are prone to leaking so I don't really suggest buying one, If you can't afford an electronic boost controller, go for the Halman manual, it's pretty nice.
A simple needle valve restricting available air to the actuator and bleed servo has been my only boost controller for four years now. It works perfectly and cost about five bucks to build.
This is very simple stuff guys. The car already has good boost control. You just want to make it give more. Restrict the volume of air available to the boost control system and you will raise your boost within the limits tolerable to the stock ECU.

i'd think you'd have just as much luck putting a pinhole in the wastegate signal line...
spend the $$$ and get something real!
you spent 30+K on the car. you can afford the money to get somthing that can hold boost correctly. if not then i suggest you leave the car alone for now.
i've seen more motors gone south becasue of a customer trying to save a few bucks where it counts.

How well it is put together is how well it will work.
I originaly purchased (on my older integra gsr-t) one of these for $4.38 at O.S.H. since gremlins wouldn't allow me to see more than 4psi of boost.
It was successful in that it allowed me to raise boost to a steady, near spike-free 8.5 psi.
And for $4.38, why not?
While at Baskersfied I was making solid 13.7@102 passes. On street tires, stock motor, and 8.5 psi. Not too shabby.
On my final run. Something wierd happened. The car felt ridiculously fast.
Now me being a turbo-newbie didn't let off, and took this as a sign of god. lol
Get my slip.... 13.3@107....
Great news! Jebus inspired horsepower right?
but wait...
Get back into pits.... holy blow-by batman.
Ringlands = destroyed.
That thing spiked like a ****.
But my buddy with an FD, managed to rack up a total of $13.34 at O.S.H. (somehow). He's a bit of an engineer wiz. And has run that boost contoller for over 2 years.
Trust me, that bc was the last of his worries with that timb bomb of a car. :P

Would you really trust a $10 part that is not specifically meant to accurately regulate the boost on a car?
If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. My advise would be to skip this part and buy a real boost controller.
