Service Dept. "Joyriding" in My Evo

Has anyone ever had to deal with this?

I remembered to record my mileage when I brought it in for the ECU harness warranty recall. When I dropped it off this morning, it had 4206 miles (Which is also on the service write-up) and when I picked it up 15 minutes ago, I noticed I was at 4223.

Thanks to an immediate friend of my family's connections, I'll be notifying the owner of their dealership ASAP. I'm also wondering if it would be in my best interest to contact the BBB.

If I have any strange failures due to abuse, I'm going to make certain that these 17 unaccounted miles are noted by their service department.

Does anyone have any other advice? (Besides knocking the service rep's front teeth through the back of his skull)

Sorry to hear that and I would reprt it to the Service Manager ASAP!!!!! And let them know that you are not recommending their service to anyone and stand outside with a sign or something(flyers etc.) letting ppl know what they are doing with their cars! It happend to my mom and she went in with 1015, and in the course of 8 hours of services the car had 1101 miles!!! I wondered were they took it and when we went to pick it up we had to wait and it was dirty inside! I found out the salesman took it to his home in the next county and brang it back thinking noone would notice!!! I was pissed off and had them take off that from the warranty!!!!!!! Good luck in your fight !!!!!!mad

do what i do, i make sure it is going to be a nice day, and stand outside the service entrance with a cup of coffee, and watch them work on my car. but anyway find a good mechanic and forget . thier a bunch of scumbags anyway!

they will abuse the car and when you bring it in for a clutch they will say you drive to abusive.

Make the dealership aware you'll be contacting the BBB and then demand an extended warranty to cover any failures due to abuse that may have occured durring their joy ride. Keep in mind that just because you buy or "are given" an extended warrenty from one dealership doesn't mean that you have to go to them for repairs, any dealership will do warranty work for you. good luck!

That sux. It's one thing if they were driving the car for the TOB noise, but for the o2 sensor recall, BS. I would call the owner of the dealer ship first see what he has to say. Then call the BBB if needed.

If there are miles put on, the paperwork you receive upon picking up the car should state the miles upon leaving and if the tech did any road testing after performing the service. If they did, you really can't question the amount of miles since the tech may have needed to "diagnose it." But for what you had done, there should be no road test and maybe a few tenths of a mile added moving it across the lot into the service bays. I would complain. Maybe he took it to lunch? When I had a problem with my Nissan, I let the service manager take the car for the weekend for his personal use. It was the only way for him to see first hand what was wrong.

let me tell you a little story

i used to have a vw gti vr6, i would always go to the same vw service, till one day. a fellow vw owner was there for a service and never got his car back, those morans droped it off the lift and destroyed the car. they tried to blame it on his susupension, thinking he might fall for it, but no. he lucked out they gave him a brand new car, in exhange for no sue. that was the last time i went there.

so be happy that it was only a joyride and he didnt crash it.

but i would still make it an issue with the top guy of that dealership.

I know when they did my recall they drove the car first....sprayed water on it drove it again, did the recall and then drove it again...

But that probably a little more than I would think they have to drive to do the work.

they did not test dive my car, only had the hose running on it for about 15 min. there is no reason for a test drive on this recall at least no reason i can think of.

When I take mine for service, I wait for it. So I pretty much know what is going on with my car.

Joyride!

Maybe they were listening to Roxette?

...or checking out the Paul Walker DVD?

...or like, they went to get a wakeboard?

Joyride makes a gnarly wakeboard...my fayv, Dr. Death!
