turn signal lights not working

So the other day I was heading over to my friend's work to have lunch and on the drive over I noticed that when I would turn on my turn signal, nothing would happen. The lights and clicking sound in the cluster weren't working and then when I got to the restaurant I got out and checked all the lights that would turn on when signaling and they all didn't work. I also tried using the hazard light to see if they would turn on at all and nothing. My headlights and tail lights still worked though. Then on my way to Poway Mitsubishi, they all of a sudden started working again. Later that day they stopped working again and then yesterday they started working again but for only 10 minutes. I live in San Diego, CA so we don't get a lot of wet weather if that makes a difference at all. I have a turbo timer, alarm, and amp/subs that were installed by the previous owner and all of this worked fine for them, they also had worked perfectly for me the 10 months that I have owned my car so I don't know what would go wrong now. Anyone have an idea what would cause this to happen? Is it a sign that there is a problem somewhere within the electrical system?

Bump, does anyone know anything about this? I'm hoping it's not going to be a costly repair.

have you checked all the fuses to make sure there in there nice and tight? Also make sure the lights themselves are good and tightened to the body. maybe a bad ground? just a couple of things

Ok here is a dumb question but when I went to look in the owner's manual for the fuse that corresponds to the turn signal lights I didn't see one, does anyone know which it would be? Another thing is that it now will work for 10 minutes, turn off and then not work for a few days. I don't know what is up. I checked for corrosion like they said to do in the thread that remixx posted and there is nothing there. Was there a specific wire I should be checking for?

It might be the turn signal switch itself. Try that first.

What would I check for when looking at the signal switch? I'm pretty dumb when it comes to electrical issues.

Just a guess, but you would have to find the wires that come off of the turn signal switch and put a volt meter up to it and see if you get a constant flow when the signal is either on left or right... But then again if your hazards aren't working then you have a different problem

Bump for finding out if anyone else has had a similar problem to this, I looked at the electrical gremlin thread and I don't have corrosion like they are showing so I don't know what the problem would be, someone in a pm mentioned that my problem might be caused my hids making my front ecu break or something along those lines. Anyone have any ideas?
