Evo X vs IX fuel pump

I know the IX pump out flows the VIII pump-- and that same is true for the X pump over the IX -- I thought someone posted this earlier (AMS?)-- Can the X pump be installed in a IX or VIII? I'm thinking not--Anyone?

Supra pumps have been known to work very well without the whine

^This.

I'm going to go with a Denso pump at some point in the near future. Not necessarily because of the Walbro whine, but because of the Denso reliability.

Lightbulb EVO X fuel pump into a VIII/IX housing

I think the X fuel pump should go in the VIII/IX housing quite easy. All the pumps are 38mm diameter, but the ten pump is ~0.5" shorter in length. Check out this thread for pix.
I plan to order a "fuel pump bracket", part number: MR571546, and hack the upper horizontal tabs off it so I can slide it up the eight/nine housing the additional 0.5". I'll then secure the fuel pump bracket w/a worm clamp. I just need to find a used OEM X fuel pump for sale, purchase it and try this idea out.

bump for this question.. i DO have a walbro, looking to replace it with something quieter as well. I do recall that the X flows better but probably doesn't fit, and it doesn't flow enough for the power I'm making.

Denso part number?

Thumbs up

The OEM X pump is Denso part #: 1951-30-7770 according to the pic in that hyperlink. Mitsubishi part #s: MR571546 (8/9 fuel pump bracket) and 1770A127 (10 fuel pump, oddly called "fuel in tank filter kit"). The two OEM parts new cost ~$101 from a discount dealer as of NOV 2010.
The OEM X fuel pump flows 192lph @ 70psi w/14V (25lph > a IX fp), the "WhineBro 255lph" flows 231lph @ 70psi w/14V per the AMS Chewbacca fuel flow chart.
