Should I Pick This Up????

Originally I wanted to spend around $16k for a evo 8, but should I fork out the extra money for the 9 instead.

Planning to check this out tomarrow. Please give me any inputs or if you seen it already let me know is it worth it.

I have read all the FAQ and been searching for a evo or sti for couple months now. Test drove both and I really like both of them.

STI engine seems more fun to rev up and beat on, but the car feels heavier, handles not as good, and brakes not as good as the evo.

Give me your thoughts please.

ehh I prefer Evos to stis, I too just bought an Evo yesterday after wanting one for several years. My friend has an Sti though and he hasn't had any problems with it. I just bought an Evo 8 mr with a decent ammount of after market stuff for 18k.

Both cars are great... it's just what you prefer. Some people's driving style is different from another.

Im not planning to add anything to it. It already has a exhaust and tune, which is enough for me.

Oh yeah, the sti has CAI, TBE, and Cobb tune. EVO was stock. Maybe thats why the sti felt so much faster.

I'd go with the 9 if you're going to stay within the stock range. Personally, I never liked the blue recaros interior in the 8's. hahah! Plus those chrome light housings are a big no no for me. So, let it be your choice! Good luck!

Its also I 6spd and since Im not going for big HP that should not be a problem right.

So is it really worth paying like $3-4k extra for a 8 vs 9?

that seems about market price for a MR with 66k miles
I would wait and look for a deal
I've seen the same thing for about 2-3k less

the 8 and 9s arent that much different besides front, 10.5 hotside, and maybe some interior things but either way its basically the same, personally i like the 9 better but i am a lil biased only because the interior i beleive is slightly better, since its a MR prolly has the nicer recaros, BBS rims and ect. Personally id look around a little see what else you can stumble upon but either way id say youd be good with both. 6spd should be goo around 400-350 i think? or at least i hope for my case

personally id take a evo over an sti, especially if the sti is an 04 forget about it if you wanna blow your motor every two seconds. My buddy has blown his motor twice.. then he got tired of forking money before he sold it hahha

My advice is to take it to a mechanic and get the car looked over, do a carfax. and be weary of a modified evo! i bought mine with 22k miles (evo 9 gsr with mods leather/aclantra seats) for about the same price and i've been working on it since i bought it.. alot of little things but still to buy a car and have to put work into it sucks.. GET RID OF THE ACT CLUTCH!! people say that they don't have problems with the clutch but on your test drive, push the car and see how well it shifts around 7k rpms.. mine was always tempermental up to the point i had to change my trans. shep racing stage two.. mr evos are nice, if i could have found one in good shape with low miles i would have picked it up but don't let emotions sway your choice. there are plenty of nice evos out there and this one looks pretty nice too, just keep in mind that people rarely get rid of a problem free car they are in love with.. evos aren't that small and i've know many guys with families that drive around with carseats in their modded evos lol

and royal purple scares me!

$450 for swift springs?
The guy is making false prices up, just a heads up. Who knows what else he could be "hiding"

The Evo 9 will always hold it's value over an Evo 8 it's the last 4g63 produced and it looks the best out of all the Evo's IMO and make sure you do a car fax on the car or autocheck before buying a lot of evo's have been crashed, also check for all the vin tags on all the fenders, doors, 1/4 panels, bumper, trunk/hood, etc... It obviously won't have one on the Jdm rear bumper though so that's why you should check, ask the guy if he has the original bumper etc... Hope this helps

Get a 9 u won't be disappointed. They respond to mods better than 8's and u get more bang for ur buck against the Subaru competitors.
