the downforce of the wing cracked the trunk and eventually it separated

it looks like the wing wasn't properly supported/bolted down on the trunk, that is crazy!

I seen a couple (not on a Evo). I heard people all them a "park bench" I'm sure they serve their purpose well on the track, but I can't see the need on the street. And trust me the cars I seen them on are not a car your gonna see at the track

+1, this.

This was a trunk fault, not a wing fault. Remember the STI at VIR that was posted a few months back? Look at the pics, the trunk was pushed with so much downforce at the spoiler mounts that it cracked and split the outer skin/shell completely away from the inner trunk framework which led the spoiler to let loose.

If the spoiler was causing lift, you'd see the back end of the evo floating through the video, it's definitely not, especially at those speeds, it would spin out almost immediately around turns. Besides, I'm sure the engineers involved in the race team wouldnt have made such a dumbazz mistake, lol.

The wing is providing downforce the the rear of the car through sweepers. And as many others have said it was the downforce that broke the carbon fibre boot. These wings add significant downforce and stability through high speed sweepers but really dont do much through slower corners. And as correctly pointed out, they make zero difference to slow speed road driving. But once you go at higher speeds they can make a difference. Here in Singapore we drive regularly to Malaysia to drive on the F1 Sepang track and to get there we run on what is called the North South Highway. I use a completely standard wing and the stability is fine up to 260kmh but going through high speed sweepers on the track I do wish for some adjustability in the wing (noticeable difference when I adjust on my GT3RS for sweepers for example). I agree, keep these wings on the track.... they look daft on the road and are totally unnecessary...
