Voltex Wings are made to fly not stay on trunks
Definitely a scary thing to happen, judging by how the wing came off, its almost as if it was creating just as much drag as down force, but then again, its impossible for a wing to exist that does not create some sort of drag.

Important lesson learned. Don't just slap a wing on there and expect it to work. If you're racing that is.
Ok. I'll agree that it's good enough. I'm not a race car fabricator or engineer. All I'm saying is that based on what I've seen of other cars, the norm is to weld the wing supports to the frame/frame rails. I can't imagine a properly welded wing failing.
When the potential costs of wing failure are so high, especially when a car is set up for the additional downforce, I think you would want something that is foolproof.
Here's what COULD have happened. The fact that it didn't is probably a testament to Tarzan's massive skills.

Granted, this wing didn't fail where it was fastened to the trunk, but at the airfoils, but still. This shows how dangerous airfoil failure can be.
