I will say this as my current experience:
I bought a used aps, and one thing I have noticed is, every1 is running w/ the adjustment screw even w/ the bov, or w/ like 1-2 threads out, and mine REQUIRES it to be ~ 6 threads out, or it will surge while lightly accelerating. (not while letting off, well did this too, but while accelerating into boost) As if the spring is too strong?.?.? W/ it set up this way, its not holding any better than my crushed stocker... And its causes the WB to go way rich while cruising inbetween shifts, and dropping it into nuetral... Ive been told this is normal, and doesnt waste too much fuel, but when I see the WB hit 10.8, that cant be good...

sound about right?

bought mine used and works fine. Why would it need an overhaul?

it seems like it opening too early. like it's leaking out. i adjusted the screw down, but then it just surges. i've had this BOV for over a year and it never used to do that which is why i'm thinking maybe i need new springs for it.

do u have a WB, or log at all? Curious if you see the same symptoms.. Ya, it works fine the way I have it, (6 threads out) but Im unable to utilize it to its full potential, due to its surging like a **** w/ the adjustment screw further in. The further in, the better boost holding capabilities... W/ 6 threads out, driveability is fine, but like I said, its not being used to its fullest potential, as its not holding any better boost than my crushed stocker...

Mine does the same thing ! Car ran quicker with a dsm 1g bov and drove better. If i adjust it to make to not surge , you can hear it blow-off at part throttle under boost

you don't need a new spring, you need to relube the piston. I typically relube mine every year to keep it working smoothly. When the grease dried up, the bov started to show surges because of the friction it was seeing.
