slipping out of 4th gear.

Not sure what happen but recently my evo 8 have been slipping out of 4th gear
out of the blue. Not every time but once a day .Shifts into gears smoothly like hot
knife through butter.
I have no mods as far as bushings or short throws ect.
Any ideas where the culprit might be?.

My only experience with a car poping out of gear was with a friends E36 M3. It ended up being his clutch...

Wrong section. Try Evo Engine/Turbo/Drivetrain, or other cars as you drive a wrx.

How many miles? Worn bushings, worn cable or bent arm could keep the gear from being fully engaged and let it slip out. Beyond that it would likely be in the trans itself.

every gear felt notchy when engage except 4th. Every time i accelerate ,I can feel
slight movement of the shifter while driving on 4th gear.

I am no expert and you need others to chime in here. My Evo has been mine since new and never abused. The shifter has always been "notchy" which means less than wonderful. Does the shift into fourth feel any different than the others?
The very soft stock motor mounts allow the engine-transmission to dance around.
The shifter will do the same.

This is a demonstration of the shifter play on 4th gear of my evo 8.
3rd gear is vertical from 4th , 3rd is softer than 1,2,5 gears though not as bad
as 4th .
When in drive 4th would slowly slide out to neutral in the process grinding the gear.
