don't cut corners on maintenance and abuse it and it will last (street car).

^^ as for price on 60k.. I paid about $1200 for COMPLETE 60k service so should be around that range depending on location

There are a few of us with 200k+ miles, keep up with regular keep up on it and it will run.

It comes down to this. There are 2 types of Evos. Those that have been launched by people that have no clue what theyre doing. And then the opposite of that. Make your you get the latter and treat your Evo as the latter.

Listen for any blender-type metal on metal sound on decel if you get to test drive a used one.

haha i don't blame you. Don't get me wrong, I love the 240. Everything is so damn easy to work on and replace. All you need is a complete ratchet set and a couple buddies and you can tear that thing apart in a day. Had a two-tone coupe and decided to upgrade :-P Best decision I ever made.

The dealership is definitely going to charge you double the amount of the same maintenance work you can get done at a shop. But you'll have to pick a good shop that specializes in Evo's or similar platforms (ideally) if you want to make sure they don't **** it up. A lot of import places assume the Evo is the same as the Lancer and end up taking twice as long.

I've owned evo's for five years now. A VII and now an VIII, I don't mod excessively, intake with air filter, BOV, cat back. Change oil religiously, take care of your timing belt change, and monitor your fluids and it will be extremely reliable.

Buying used is a crap shoot. You could end doing a few things to it not planned initially. That being said.....this is the most reliable I've owned (I've had Lexuses, SRT-4's, Civics and an Integra Type-R.

This is just as reliable as my Honda and my IS300. No worries about it starting and I'm modded extensively.

Well, the Evo is just a newer DSM with the same mitsu reputation. But as with DSM's they'll last 200k + no problem if you dont let mods get out of control and keep up on maintenance.

Stupid stuff can go out, but with stuff like sensors replace with OEM mitsu and youll be good to go.

I would say less mods/less power = greater reliability. Whether or not you mod it "right" or not, more mods/more power will always lead to less reliability and higher maintenance costs.
