when you open the lid look at the latch that holds the lid on to the left, there is a small bar going north to south, slide the piece on with the open part facing to the front of the car

 

it should be free!!!! cause obviously its a defect. you, me, joe, him, her, and everyone else has the same problem!!!! naah but that's a good price. thanks for the part number!

We have a few dealerships in the metro GA area, unfortunately Mitsubihi are being phased out or being a secondary to say Hyundais and Kias, but because of that Mitsubishi parts are really cheapnow a days; for example (new)IX front bumpers are now 300.00, a lot cheaper than a few years ago and even cheaper than what most are selling in these threads. Visit your local Mitsubishi dealers you'll be surprised.

It's even more of a ripoff if you actually purchase one along with other items that offset the flat-rate $5 shipping too. Spending 1/3 that of the items on ebay.
I'd hate to be that person who actually spent $20 from some of these people. You can make one for cheaper!
