I had the same issue with the gas cover, so cheap I bought two, one for the glove box when the next one goes. Interesting that my wifes Nissan has the same lever and has worked great 12 years--yet the mitsu stuff doesnt have that longevity.

 

Mines broken also, been using a small purell hand sanitizer bottle under the lever.

 

stick my key between bodyand gas cap lid to open mine up, just got the entire car repainted though, may order it

 

Lmao ive been doing the samething. Its a whole routine in NJ you are not supposed to fill your own tank. So i have to get out of the car instruct the guy to use my CC to pop the door while i pull the lever.
