Anti-mod fans?
I spent the first few months after buying my evo 8 getting it back to oem. It had a few mods that seemed like previous owner had no clue as to why. First thing I found was a Perrin crank pulley which I had a local guy give me an extra stock crank pulley. After swapping that in, the car actually ran much smoother on the highway. Might have had something to do with the perrin pulley not be dampened, idk. I also immediately noticed the previous owner mounted the dv backwards
so the car was surging. Then all the dreaded boost leaks these cars are known to have.
I didnt want to mod the car because at that point I wanted a good baseling to start off with. My goal was to get it running like oem first, then I would mod. Nothing wrong with having a lowered car so long as its a good quality suspension doing it. You also just have to be more cautious when going up driveways and into steep parking lots. I would not mind taking the fp green off your hands either if you want my stock 8 turbo.

stock = boring IMO
Evo is required to have the following:
Lowering springs(that wheel gap is horrible)
at least cat back exhaust
ECU tune
Boost raised slightly
Fuel Pump
Thats the bare minimum!

Cat back = loud.
No tune needed if it's stock = saved money and no WOT pulls on the dyno.
I'm just joking of course
I not against modifications, but every evo i see is modified with the same parts. They all look and sound the same. I almost feel that mine being stock or very close to it actually makes it unique anymore.
My car came with some very basic mods that I chose to replace with the stock parts. I had to replace:
Tein S springs
Mini Battery
Ebay intercooler and pipes
AEM intake
2.5" Downpipe
The only mods on my car now are a turbo back exhaust, mbc, drop in K&N air filter and a tune. I keep thinking of modding it more, but then it just never ends.

Mines came with a hks turbo timer and hbc boost gauge. Everything else is stock im gonna enjoy it for awhile till my 2 year warranty ends. I do prefer it stock but wouldn't mind some minor mods.
Every mod seems like a tradeoff for the worse. I would like to know mods that have no drawbacks?
Mini battery = less cca which in my area = not good.
So far, the best mod I have is my stereo. No drawbacks

Define drawbacks. You mean mods that lower reliability or mods like an exhaust that are loud and annoy you?
A tune is the best mod but it will yield more horsepower if accompanied with other parts such as an exhaust.
And when you say drawbacks do you mean financial as well?
Mods with no drawbacks...
400-450hp
mt-90 in tranny and tcase
fp red.
L19's
12v fuel pump mod
intercooler piping
780 injectors
ecu tune
electric cut out in exhaust so you can keep stock exhaust
i dont see any drawbacks to this set up.

haha
i think u should just put sound proofing on your car or just change an exhaust that is less loud
and for the suspension
u can just increase the height or change to another suspension
just contact GTWORX and they will offer you gd advice
i wont recommend u making your car slower

I dont hear many evos sounding like mine around here. I got a rmr dp, mil spec 100 cell cat, rmr catback.
dunlop star specs
Robispec springs ( lowers the car only slightly, make it not as rough on bumpy roads, and will improve handling of the car).
spoolinup COP kit ( lets you run larger gap which will improve your mpg). I gained 30 miles per tank by increasing my gap from .024" to .031" with no issues on boost.
evo IX dv. holds boost much better than the plastic junker
T bolt clamps, or aba clamps--replace the stock crap.
Boost gauge-- needed if your car doesnt already have one
cabin filter-- for early models that dont come with one.
these are some mods that have no drawbacks imo, hope this helps
