Is it harmful to drive my car without a muffler?

Hey guys, I'm a little paranoid about my car. I have to drive to work tomorrow but I need to take my muffler to a welding shop after work so I took it off. The hanger somhow ripped out of the muffler taking a piece of the casing with it. It's weird because it looks like a brittle fracture failure mode. My assumption is that it was work hardening of the stainless steel from the welding?

Anyhow, does anyone know if it can be harmful to drive it without the muffler? I don't think that it is, but just want to make sure... thanks guys (and gals )

Except for your ear drums, the local "authorities" and pedestrians it won't hurt anything ;-) Everything will be fine. Try to keep the revs low so you don't attract attention.

It's actually not that loud, so I wouldn't be too concerned at all. Turbos act as a muffler, and since the stock turbo is restrictive, it keeps it pretty quiet compared to a honda without a muffler on it.

Thanks guys. I got to work without getting pulled over. I had to roll down the windows because I was getting gassed out at a red light but other than that everything went well. It's definitely loud, but it's not too bad. I drove past a Highway patrol with his windows down and he didn't seem to care. If you give it a little sauce, it sounds like a ducati with straight pipes. It's going to be a 10 mile drive to the welder's shop after work, then 5 miles back home..then I'm good. Thanks for the suggestion but I don't need an upgrade. I have a Greddy right now and love it. I'll see if I can get some sounds clips, but I don't have my camera with me..

Thanks again guys.
