Cams Question
Cams Question
Im in the process of getting some kelford 272/272 cams on my evo 8 has about 70k miles on it...
I just want to know what other parts I will need to get ready..
Will I need a brand new Headgasket or will the stocker be fine?

If the timing belt service hasn't been performed yet that would be a good time to do it. Also, as far as I know you need to upgrade your valve springs with the Kelford 272's. I have read that if you keep the revs below 8k you'll be alright with stockers, but I wouldn't try it on my car.
Yeah I already got the arp headstuds ready man thanks
As for the upgrading the valve springs from what Ive read and heard from shops the stockers are fine...
Anyone else have anything to say about reusing the stock Headgasket? its a pretty expensive piece I rather not spend the money on something that is reusable..

You don't touch the headgasket when doing cams. Valve cover gasket yes.
I would say, Timing Belt(if not done already). Cam seals, and valve cover gasket.
As for the valve springs. I've been running the kelfords with stock valvetrain. Just don't rev past 7K or you might float.
I myself finally saved up to get a supertech dual set-up and now will be able to rev higher. It's all in what your goals are.

You will benefit from getting the valve springs and retainers now. If you do it right the first time there is little room for mistakes. Plus you won't have to pay twice for the install, unless your doing the work yourself.
