cams require tune asap?

So im putting some kelford 272/272 cams in my evo 8 pretty soon, and it wont be another week before I can get a tune...

What are some of your experiences or opinons? Can the evo last atleast one week with out a tune, I mean I would only be using it to get to and from work which is about 10 mins away.

I'm in a similar situation. I'll be installing my gsc s1s soon and then will have to drive about 3 hours to get it tuned. I've been told it should be fine so I assume driving it to and from work for a few days will be ok as well.

I wouldn't recommend it. Just wait till the night before to install them and limp your car over to the shop to get it tuned the next day.

Definitely shouldn't run those cams without a proper tune. The consequences would be really bad.

install the cams then call AAA to get her towed to the tuner, no harm done to your beast.

Sure you can run it that way--as others have said, stay out fot he throttle and RPM's. The car is likely to be running lean-- pull the battery cable let it sit, reinstall and let the car (ecu) readjust --this will help some. Now-- keep you foot out of it!

Just go easy on the way to the tuner. It might want to stall on you,so I would take a test ride not far from home to determine its driveability.

Personally I dont like the idea. I would follow MR. EVO MR's advise and just get a tow or install them there at the tuners' shop. They really dont take that long to install.

You'll be okay driving the car under 10psi boost, but I wouldnt drive the car wide open throttle unless you have at least a base map.

Cheers!

Get a tune asap once you install the cams. I went a week or so without a tune when I installed my cams. My friend is running hks 280's in his car for four months now without a tune. Pretty stupid, but his car has no issues.

never a good idea to do a big upgrade and not have it tuned right away man.... like the others said dont do it! i would install them with the tuner right on hand or what Mr. Evo MR said.
