Buy Now or Wait?

Howdy All,

My first post here. I am currently in the Army stationed in Korea. I will be back stateside in March and will most likely be picking up a EVO VIII or IX. My question is, if i can find a deal now, do you think it would be good to pick it up and park it for 5 months, or just wait. Here's a couple pros cons i have so far.

Pros:
Lower Mileage
Know I have the car when i get back

Cons:
Someone else will have to test drive/pick up
Paying the 5 months of insurance just to have it parked.
Not seeing it in person before i buy.
Less money for down payment = Higher monthly payment. But can still make higher payments to counter that.

Any thoughts and suggestions would be great. Been going through this site the last couple weeks and have learned a lot. Don't flame for being a noob haha.

Thanks

Steve

I'd say just wait, 5 months is a long time.

Well with your pros and cons list, your cons already outweigh the pros. I'd just wait, there's too many things that could go wrong with a purchase with you not being there and you'd never know until it was too late. There will always be another one.

Brotha i'll just wait till i get back if i were you . In the meantime, look for evo's that interest you and try to make contact with the seller. Im in the service too and 2 months before i got back , i probably had 6 evos to look at. Took me 2 weeks to get my dream car. Goodluck!

All good opinions, another thing to is, when i PCS, ill have 30 days of leave before have to report to new duty station. So will have some time to look at cars. Most likely will by from WA or TX. Depending on how things work out. Was planning on buying in WA and taking a road trip across the U.S. Thanks for the opinions, as mentioned, this has been a great site so far to research somethings. I used to be in the Nissan scene back in 02-04 with an S13 coupe. Looking for something nicer this go around.

I'd suggesting taking the next 5 months to find the right car. Take a few months to educate yourself then start looking. Good luck.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else here and recommend you wait. Buying any car is a big deal and something you should be present for.

If I was you I'll wait you will probably get a better deal knowning that the evo's don't hold there value in 5 months you probably get it 5000 cheaper just for waiting

Definitely wait. These aren't cars that you want to purchase without seeing them in person or atleast having someone you genuinely trust with knowledge about the cars that can help you out. You can get stuck with a car that will need a lot of TLC, plus leaving something sit for 5 months can cause its own problems

As everyones else say wait the best advice about buying cars is to be patient don't rush is start looking and when you come back you'll have many options to see and test drive.
