Definitive answer

I am trying to cut through the BS and get the truth: Does replacing the stock instrument cluster with the Ralliart cluster reset the odometer?

Please reply only if you have performed this swap personally or if you are a vendor who has knowledge of these swaps. I can speculate all day long, so I don't need opinions this time, I need facts. I know there are a lot of other Evo owners wondering the same thing, so please keep the thread clean except for legit replies. Thanks!

Chris

Chris,
I have not done a cluster swap on the Evo, BUT I've done a swap of electrical and mechanical pieces in the past. Both you can have preset when ordering. Just tell them your mileage and they should dial it in for you. To be most accurate just don't drive the car until it's installed.

I would still have a third party notarize an odometer statement just in case. If you ever have to sell or trade your vehicle and there is some question about the cluster, your car might be deemed as True Mileage Unknown.

Since the cluster is swappable with the ES/LS/OZ and our mileage is stored in the cluster itself...yes. GPT's on point as usual. Better safe than sorry.

I don't know about clusters but I do know that the VW/Audi odometers can be rolled forward by the dealer before installation.

You're going to have to disclose this either way. There are a variety of procedures you'll have to go through to be legal. Otherwise your stuck with True Mileage Unknown which makes your car worthless or just about.
