The Evo will never be on the same level as the Supra as far as retaining its value...

I was home( Dayton, OH) late June early July for R&R from this **** hole. My buddy's truck was getting worked on so I let him drive the Evo around and I drove my Supra for the time being. We met up at Buffalo Wild Wings to grab some food and a few beers one night. There happened to be a big *** group of guys with some pretty nice rides...350z's, STi's, Evo's, and others as well parked in the same parking lot just hanging out. We parked right next to each other somewhat away from other cars for a little bit of "security" what have you....I didn't get a single...not 1...comment on the Evo(which doesn't truly bother me since the only opinion that matters is mine anyways)...all they wanted to do was look at the Supra and talk about it.

While the Evo is a nice car and is respected, it will never live up to the reputation the Supra has. I love my Evo and I love my Supra but it never ends when I drive it...

I rarely see this with other Evo's....

just my .02

Can?....hahaha! I bought my Supra in 2007 for 32K and it was a 1994 with 45K miles on it from the original owner down in Ft. Lauderdale.....Supra's go for 38K+ on a regular basis on SF, especially if they're stock or damn near....a 1998 Quicksilver(one of the most sought after and limited colors produced) retailed for 42K off the showroom floor...NSX's retailed for 32K back in 1997, I surely dont see them selling for the same anymore, its usually around 21K...in fact I rarely see one over 25K. The level the supra is on insane

Eh. it will alway be a boy racer niche car forever like S13-15s, RX7FDs, s2ks, e30s, STIs etc. as they are great machines with tons of parts availible.

NSX's and Supras will always still be be a rung or two up. Grey market Evo 3-7's might be a bit more exotic, and the bottom rung will always be anchored by b-series hondas.

Most Evos are destined to end up as POS hillbilly DSM's like mine . I have always felt that 4dr track cars are silly, no matter how fast they are. They make feindishly competent and fun street/ utility cars though IMHO.

Im not saying Supra dont hold their vaule by no means but NSX are known to hold theirs as well

Only time will tell. I think there are 3 factors on our side. The first is that there are a lot of people that total their evo's. Just read these forums, and I for one know of 7 in my circle of friends, all a which purchased a completely different car afterwards. The second factor is that so many people mod the hell out of these cars, a stock used Evo is so hard to find. I for one would never purchase a heavily modded used Evo. I modded the hell out of my Evo VIII and it blew that why I pretty much kept my IX stock for that reason, only mod is a CBE and i still have my stocker so if I ever decide to sell my car I'd convert to 100% stock. The third factor is that the 8 and 9's are more desirable as far as engine, but then we go back to modding the hell out of the car. Anyway, going on Cars.com i see 9's going for high 20's to low-mid 30's depending on mileage and GSR or MR. That being said, i think that since i got my car brand new for 32G's i made a sound purchase. Anyway just my .02

My point was EVO WILL NEVER hold their value compair to a Supre thats point blank

Usually does not mean always....I didn't say all NSX's sell for that did I? Nope....and I also never said they don't hold their value. I simply stated that a Supra will hold its value more than an NSX will...

100% agree....there are too many evo's running around now a days compared to the scarce amount of MKIV's that were built from 93-98

Come to Canada RHD Supra TT's are 10-12G's. Primo ones for 15K all day long.

NA's can be had for 8K.

They're depreciating like most cars unless they're vintage.

Theres always the possiblities with the 8's and 9's, since with the 10's is a whole new body style new block and everything. Its clear that the 4g63 is the best 4cyl block and thats gotta mean something..

Yea MKIII's maybe....RHD TT in the states are gold mines. You'll hardly EVER see a Turbo go for under 24K...and thats with "higher" miles. There are many 90K+ mile Supras...TT Auto and TT 6spd still selling for 24-27K...its the rarity of the vehicle.

I can see an NA auto with 175K miles going for 8K....Go on SF and look into the for sale section and see what they're going for.

You show me a completely stock TRUE(and I say true in the sense of not having a 2JZ-GTE swapped into an originally NA vehicle and keeping the NA VIN tags) MKIV TT RHD with low miles for 15K and I'll believe it. Stock 6sp TT stock MKIV whether its RHD or not will go for 45K easy

Let's be clear. This is a apples and oranges debate. You have to take all things in consideration. Supras for all they are (and they are great cars), are not being produced any more. That alone drives part of the value up. If Evos were not being produced anymore the value would be up greatly. With that being said, if a new Supra were to start being produced (as rumors have it) and it was comparable in performance, the value of older Supras would drop. Evos are still being produced and there are alot of companys that are making more and more power with the Evo 10s. Yes, there are still many Evo 8 & 9s available, but compared to say 5 years ago there are a good many less. Remember the last of the Supras were made 12yrs ago and some as much as 16yrs ago. I think that in the year 2018 (again 12yrs from 2006) there will be very few Evo 8 & 9s still around that are in average to great shape. Those cars could very well be worth what a Supra is today. You can bet that I will still have mine.
