Spolier Fading Dealer is the dealer sketchy

Hello,

I know the spolier fading is a common problem on Mitsubishi Evo VIII i have seen them on plenty of cars. So my wing decided it wanted to fade on me this summer so I took it into my dealer to get it repaired and fixed under warranty. I just want to know from someone else out here is my dealer jerking me around for some reason. This is becoming a very big pain for me for a very simple problem it seems like. HERE is the short story...

--Mid June -- spolier starts fading
-- Late June-- i report the fading spolier it to my dealer
-- Mid July-- Dealer calls me in to take pictures to get an approval from regional manger
--Late July-- My documentation was " incomplete" and has to be resubmitted
-- Mid Aug-- Still waiting for the "ok" from regional director to get another spolier
-- Early September-- The dealer "ok's" getting the spolier getting replaced under warranty
--Mid September-- As of last Monday I have been waiting for my new wing to come in I finally get in contact with my dealer again who NEVER ANSWERS HIS PHONE!!! He tells me today that the new wing will be in NEXT Monday! and that the new wings don't come painted from the factory anymore they all come in white now so I will have to put my car in the body shop and the wing will have to be painted and instaled there. I really don't trust body work such as paint work I have had bad experiences in the past with another car.

Here is my question to anyone who can answer this.
1. Is it true that the new wings come in all white and they have to be painted?
2. Does the warranty process usually take this long for a spolier replacement
3. If the paint work is not up to my standards is there anywhere , place , person i can complain and report to?

Thank You,
VERY FED UP MITSUBISHI CUSTOMER

If it doesn't come out to your standards or" pre-fading" then complain to the dealership. Its there job to fix it and not do sub-par paintwork.

If the spolier comes in white does that means its a true OEM wing? or did they order the wrong wing color and have to repaint it? I just have a hard time believing it comes in white

Probably not OEM and definitely not an VIII wing.

do you guys wax your carbon fiber areas of the wing?, that will protect it from fading, not sure bout the 8s but the 9s are clearcoated, so wax it to protect it from fading, just like waxing your car, your not waxing the paint, your waxing the clearcoat on top of the paint

Actually years ago when I had mine replaced it did come in primer white from Mitsu and need to be painted to match. They shouldn't need your car though unless they are going to compensate for fading.

Spoiler.

That wont help on the VIIIs. It might slow the process, but the fading and yellowing will still occur. The gel coat they use to coat the carbon fiber sucks.

They replaced mine ages ago and it also came from the factory in white. Sent it out to a local body shop for paint. Paint came back excellent dumb *** dealer scratched the heck out of my trunk installing the new wing.

Last time a tech got within 50ft of my car.

Mine was replaced with a 100% OEM VIII wing though. Mine has not faded one bit since probably 5 yrs now

No i just think they are going to paint the new spolier and then replace it for me. Do the new replacement spoliers have a tendcy to fade?

This isn't like a recall they will fix right? this is only if you bought it from them?

Not a recall but they know there was an issue with the VIII's. Most dealers will replace the wing if your in warranty and since you have an 05 your likely not.

It's pretty cheap fix at any body shop worth a spit though

it took them 2 months to replace mine. No hassel though. They didn't exactly replace mine, they put another piece of carbon to surround the faded middle. Like mentioned above, waxing doesn't help. I waxed it often and it still started to spot and fade.
