Official - Evo Towing Thread
I've been in the process of fixing up a 55 year old sailboat this summer. I stopped by a lake the other day just to see what the facilities looked like and drove down the boat ramp nose first. I didn't think I was going to get out of there. The Evo engine has so little torque until you really rev it up it scared me a little. So, beware of boat ramps.
Anyway, the hitch is on my Subaru WRX which I think will be a better for this sort of thing.

I had a custom hitch welded up that bolts to the original tow hook mounts. A very solid mounting point for a removable hitch. The hitch comes out right behind the license plate for stealth mode and ground clearance. I have only used it a handful of times but I take my dirtbike to the track in a little utility trailer. The whole setup probably weighs less than 1000 lbs, and I still get 23 mpg on the freeway.

Normally hidden behind the license plate

Nothing hanging down

With the ball mounted

A shot from below. Hard to get a good angle when mounted.

Bolted directly to the original tow hook mounts.
Ill try and post some better pics when I remove it. Im going to sell it separately from the car. $500 and Id part with it.
