How much would you guys pay? (pull engine/tranny/reinstall)

Well, that really does sum it up. I have an evo friend who needs his tranny/block/head pulled out for him. I did his clutch a while back and charged him $400...I realize now why its so much more at shops (I did it in the drive way with no lift etc too!). Basically I gotta pull the tranny and that gets sent off, pull the engine and split, block gets sent off as well as the head. It's definitely not stock by all means so there isn't a lot of stock plastics etc in the way. He's asking me how much I'd charge to do something like that...then later once he gets everything back reassemble and reinstall (I've done this many of time before, but not an an evo - a dsm ). I honestly have no clue what to charge him...he isn't broke by all means and doesn't want to have a shop do it. Thanks for your opinions evom

Well, i wouldn't be sure on how much to charge him either. How about you call a couple of shops around your area and see how much they would charge. Then if you think you could do better charge him a cheaper price.

Or look up the service manual and see how many hours it will take to do all three. Most shops charge like $60 - $100 / hour. So come up with an hourly price or something.
Good Luck

my tuner will pull a motor for $700, and does a complete 2.3 build for $1500 which gets people machine work, balancing and tune. good price in my eyes. now i just need to go get the parts.

About 1,500 bucks is the average, 400 bucks is a steal in a consumers eyes! Although I've seen as high as 2,200 for a complete swap.

If he's a good friend, I'd only charge him food and beer through out the duration of the project. Then again, I have done way too many of these to count on DSMs and Evos, so it really isn't too complicated.

$1500 or $1000 and beer/food. The second one could end up being higher or lower then the first so its his choice
