For sure. The belt might be new, but that still doesn't mean the tensioner won't take a ****. It's an important service, you should do it right.

I would not do the 60k service without swapping any of those parts it's cheap insurance.

What timing parts on my car were found to be in new condition at 60K may be toast on your car. So, asking if certain parts are necessary is useless. Parts like pulleys with bearings are easy to check once you are in there. Parts like the tensioner and water pump can fail without warning and should be replaced.

spend the 500 instead of rebuilding your engine

you should look in your owner's manual and do EVERYTHING it says for the 60k service. it's one of the most important.

Yep, change everything out, even those idler & tensioner pulleys that you are probably referring to just to save a little money. Evo maintenance isn't cheap, but I'm sure you knew that before you bought it

Do you have to go to the dealer for this? My Evo only has 45k on it but I'm curious.

not if you have a decent EVO shop in your area. I went to KevinD for my timing belt services.

The 4G63 is an interference engine therefore if your belt or tensioner break, you risk serious damage to your engine's internals; such as bent valves.
