Replacing stock gauges in 05 evo rs

Hey everyone i recently picked up a 2005 evo rs, and it has the stock gauges under the radio. The volts, temp, and boost in bar. I am getting a AEM wideband and Boost gauge, i might mount the wideband on the steering wheel but i want to replace the stock boost gauge with the AEM one. So my question is what size are the stock gauges, and is there anything else i need to get besides the gauge to replace it? Thanks, and I look forward to spending some more time here on the site since in a evo owner now

the oem are smaller than the standard 2 1/16 aem gauges, so in order to mount the aem ones under the radio, you need to get a different gauge mounting plate with bigger holes.....imo i say leave the oem alone or remove them for good and put both gauges on your stering wheel column, thats where i have my oil pressure and boost gauge, i think it looks low profile and not rice

Well eventually id like to replace all 3 of those gauges down there with aftermarket ones, do they sell a different plate? or the larger bracket for the gauges there? And who sells the steering wheel gauge mounts.

Buy a carbon panel and then cut holes in it. But honestly... while you're driving and doing a pull, try to look there while paying attention to everything else. Not too effective! Pillar is effective for viewing but lets everyone see them, column is VERY nice and low key and you have them right in front of you while peaking at rpm's. cd player location is ok too but getting harder to see. i had my wideband in the ash tray spot of my wrx and HATED it, about the same height as the cubby hole.

The stock location for the boost, oil temp, etc. gauges is in a horrible location! You won't be able to see if you're overboosting or running lean w/your new gauges in that location. When I'm WOT I focus only on the tach and road and only notice my warning lights on my A-pillar if I exceed set limits. The stock black face plate won't mount 60mm or 52mm gauges anyway! The plastic cubby could be reused though if you really want to mount them in that location. I suggest mounting them higher up and closer to your road field of view.

I plan on putting the AEM wideband and AEM boost gauge on the steering wheel, but i would still like to replace the gauges in the stock location. I want to get some sort of a gauge that shows knock, and a few other things. I will check out that carbon panel, or could i just modify my original one? I dont want to change the location of my cd player with the gauges because i have a flip up screen and it would prob. block the ac controls and everything then.
